St Ives Make-up Remover & Facial Cleanser

Hi Everyone!~

About 2 months ago, My sister came home with St Ives Makeup Remover & Facial Cleanser. She told me that there was great reviews on this product. I didn't know about it. I thought "hey, since people are giving good reviews it must be good!" So together with my sister, I started trying out this product.

Now that the product is down to it's last uses, I thought it's time to share my thoughts on it!~

Product ClaimsWith Calming Chamomile. Non-irritating. Dermatologist-tested. Formulated with parabens and phthalates. Does not contain animal ingredients.

Product Description, This cleanser effortlessly removes even the heaviest make-up while cleansing the skin.

Sorry for the messy looking cap.

The product was quite runny, It always runs even when we gently squeeze to get a bit of product out.

Putting the product to test, I have swatches of some makeup that I usually wear on me.

  • Mac Studio Fix Fluid
  • Mac Peach Twist Blush
  • Etude House Cafe Mocha Eyeshaow
  • Etude House Ethnic Bronze Bangle Eyeshadow
  • Dollywink Eyeliner
  • Covergirl Lash Blast Waterproof Mascara

  • Moist my hands and got a little product out.

As you can see from the photo above, I squeeze too much product out.

Its not that I needed so much product. The consistency of this product is really runny. If you never pay attention to it, it'll run like this.

Alright back to the point..

  • I started working the product on my skin in circular motion.
  • Then let the product sit for a little while, to dissolve the makeup.
  • Start massaging it again.

Most of the powder products are all gone.

  • Continue massaging again.

Nothing came off.

  • Started gently scratching the eyeliner using my finger nails.

and realized, I wouldn't have scratch it if it was my face.

And then decided to rinse it off.

This is the leftovers.

  • Mascara not removed
  • Eyeliner partially removed, due to light scratching
  • Mac studio fix fluid partially removed
  • Etude House Cafe Mocha eyeshadow partially removed
  • Rest removed.

My Thoughts
From my experience.

You probably can guess, this is not going to be a good review.

I experienced the same thing every single time I use it. It says to effortlessly remove even the heaviest makeup.

I spent so much time massaging this product, leaving it on my skin to dissolve the makeup and massage again. In the end, even a cheaper makeup remover can do a better and faster job than this.

I am really disappointed with this product.

As you can expect, there's nothing I like about this product.

Although from the photo, you see that it removes the lighter eyeshadow and blush. But you still can see a little of the dark eye shadow. It makes me wonder. Did it entirely remove the makeup that I can't see?

What I don't like about this product.

1) The effectiveness of it.

I actually will feel alright if they say slightly remove makeup or something.
But it mentioned that it mentioned even the heaviest makeup can be removed effortlessly.
This will attract alot of people to buy, without any doubt. But it doesn't work that way..

2) It stings the eye.

I accidentally got it into my eyes once. It sting-ed my eyes and I couldn't open them.
After rinsing it under a running tap for a while. It feels alright. But the stingy sensation was there for quite some time.

3) Greasy on skin.

The product is cream, but runny. I never thought that it would occur as greasy.

Whenever I using this product on my skin, I feel that there's this layer of oil(?) on my skin.
You know that feeling when you use a oil base makeup remover to remove your makeup.

I had that feeling every time I use it. Because it didn't remove all my makeup, I always carry on removing my makeup like how I usually do. So I don't really know if it will cause breakout or not

4) Smudging makeup

I tried using this without moist-ing my face.
It did work a little better. Remove a little more makeup.
But for the eye area, all it did was to smudge the mascara and darker eyeshadow.

Even when I rinse it with water, the smudge stays.

Would I recommend this? No, I won't. I don't understand why people loved this product. It did not remove my makeup well and definitely did not cleanse my skin too.
Although ST. Ives's products are pretty cheap, I don't think it's worth the buy at all.

Has anyone of you used this product and have a different opinion?
Or am I using this wrongly??

Share them in the comment section down below!~

Thanks for reading!~

xx, meiyi
