It’s been a little while since I did a review post.
Feel’s like it’s been a while, but I went to check, 2posts ago was a review post by Laneige. Click here if you missed it!
If you’ve followed this blog for a while, you would have noticed that I have a thing for Lush, especially recently. Not too sure why, but it seems like recently, I have been using many Lush brand products.
Today’s post is on a Lush Shampoo. I've hauled it some time back, I’m thinking it’s July/August, here, together with the American Cream Conditioner and Seanik Solid Shampoo, here and here, which both I’ve already shared my thoughts on.
Before I blabber on and on let’s get started with the post!~
Lush Cynthia Sylvia Stout Shampoo
Product Description,
Condition, body and shine for wavy, fluffy and frizzy hair. Cynthia Sylvia Stout is made with stout beer, which your great-grandmother probably used to make her hair shiny. Stout contains protein to give your hair weight, smoothness and gloss. It’s excellent for hair that goes frizzy in the damp. Cynthia smells delicious, just like a brandy, stout and lemon cocktail and even makes curly hair shiny.
It has a small nozzle to dispense the shampoo.
But I suggest to remove the cap to get the product out instead.
I don’t know if it’s only the bottle that' I’m using or what.
The bottle seems so hard, which makes squeezing the product out from the bottle a hassle.
If you unscrew the cap, the product can flow out better and fast.
This product is pretty runny, feels like someone added water into our shampoo.
It’s not a bad thing, I’m just not use to this kind of shampoo.
I prefer thick creamy shampoo.
This shampoo has a pretty strong stout scent. So if you don’t like stout, I don’t think you’ll like this scent.
I’m not a fan of stout/beer or mainly alcoholic scents, but this was alright for me. Maybe because it has a little citrus-y/ fruity scent in it that makes it smell better.
My Thoughts,
The reason why I didn’t write post earlier is because I didn’t like this shampoo, but I want to try it with different ways to see if I’ll like it better.
For starters, the scent of the shampoo didn’t really appeal me, although I’m alright with the scent. I prefer my shampoo to be sweet smelling and refreshing at the same time. But this shampoo don’t seem to have any of it.
I mentioned in one of my shampoo post that I like shampoo that lathers well. Well, for this, it doesn’t lather well at all.
The only way to make it lather, just a bit more, is to add a lot more shampoo to your hair.
Although it minimal lather, I realise that it cleanses my hair very well. Much better than many shampoo.
It removes products built-up and oil on your scalp extremely well! To be honest, I am very impressed by it.
Not only that, it also does what it says gives weight and shine to fluffy hair.
I notice that my hair is softer and more tamed after using this shampoo. Usually I’ll notice flyaways on the top of my head, after using this shampoo, I noticed that they’re not that unruly anymore.
And when I comb through my hair with my fingers, I can feel that my hair is very soft and smooth and also adds a little shine to my hair. Which makes my hair look really healthy.
Although it conditions your hair, I wouldn’t use this shampoo without a conditioner, because I still notice my hair tangling throughout the day, even with conditioner but without hair lotion, leave-in hair products.
So for those who are thinking of skipping the conditioner step, this shampoo is not your easy way out!(:
On the whole, other than the lathering “problem” I’m very pleased with this product. At least it does a great job with maintaining your hair smooth, soft and shiny!~
PROs
- Gives hair weight
- Hair feels softer and smoother
- Adds a healthy shine to your hair (not grease)
- Removes oil and hair product build-up well
- Tames flyaways
CONs
- Doesn’t lather well (minimal lather)
- Scent may not appeal to everyone
Would I recommend?
I would recommend this to people who wants to keep those flyaway under controlled and get a head of healthy looking hair.
But just a reminder, again, this shampoo doesn’t lather well. So for people who likes rich lathered shampoo or well-lathered shampoo, you might not get use to it or maybe will not like it, like I did.
This retails for SGD$16 (100g) at our local Lush store.
Has anyone tried this??
On a side note,
Ozzy and Domo went for their annual vaccination today!(: wanted to post the process of it, but it became very chaotic. I think it’s the first time I've seen the clinic so packed and it took me almost 20min to notify them that we’re there for our appointment.
So I didn't take the photos that I wanted in the end. I didn't want people to keep looking at me, and think that I’m this weirdo that made her first visit with her animals.HAHAAH!
Sorry for that tired looking face. LOL!~ I am really tired.(HAHA) I went straight down after a day at school, thus that comfy wear.
Like what I said, I didn't want people to think that we’re some weirdo, so I had to make-do with this shot! HAHAHAAH!
Domo was shivering that’s why I had to hold him this close and tight. But he saw his friends and thus that face… HAHAHA!
Not forgetting..
Ozzy!~ He got all shivery and terrified once we reached. Which is part of the reason why I didn’t want to take any photos there.
PS. If you think I have good complexion, it’s not that case. It’s the BB cream doing the job! It has pretty good coverage and hides my uneven skin tone and redness, that’s why I look like I have pretty good complexion in the photo. HAHAHAAH! #shameless~
PPS. I’ll be on a short getaway from tommorrow onwards, so I won’t be posting until I’m back!(: Stay tune for a post on my holiday!!(: (Not sure what we’ll be doing though)
Thanks for reading!!~
xx, meiyi
