Lush Lip Scrub

HURRAY for good weather!~

I tweeted last night that I'll wake up earlier, before the construction starts, to shoot some photos for today's post!(:

And I was also hoping that it won't be gloomy or, even worst, raining!

YAY! for a good sunny day! PS. I'm usually not hoping for a sunny day! HEHHEH!

I've only tried one lip scrub, which is what I'm going to review about today.

And it is the Lush Lip Scrub in Mint Julips

Product Description,We wanted a mint choc chip tasting lip scrub – and we think we’ve done it here, with peppermint, vanilla and tagetes oil.Clears dead skin and flakiness from lips, leaving them moisturised and smooth. Our lip scrubs are made from castor sugar to act as a gentle scrub and jojoba oil to be wonderfully moisturising but light enough not to leave you feeling greasy. Keeps lips in tip top condition, for kissing, pouting, talking or anything else you wish to do with them. Provides a great base for lipstick, which looks much better on smooth prepared lips.Rowena and Charlotte – our very own Lush make up fanatics – wanted something to prepare the lips before applying lipstick.   They are always lecturing us about how people don’t pay enough attention to their lips and how they are one of the first things that the eye is drawn towards when people look at your face. After much work, they discovered that the exact right size of sugar grain could provide a gentle safe scrub and taste yummy too – especially when combined with a lovely flavour.Information from  https://www.lush.co.uk/product/292/Mint-Julips-Lip-Scrub

This is the first and the only lip scrub I've tried so far, so I can't really do a comparison between products. I've never really taken notice on lip scrub while I was at the mall. I won't have noticed this lip scrub too if it wasn't the cashier at Lush that introduced it to me.

It never occurred to me that I have to exfoliate my lips until I've been introduced to this product.

My First Experience

Ahhh it was a year ago's thing,
I had it on my lip and I could smell a very nice mint chocolate scent, since it was suppose to be mint choc. Being an ice cream lover, I couldn't resist and wanted to taste how it taste like immediately. So without even exfoliating, I licked up all the product.

It is sweet, taste a little like mint choc, but there isn't a minty feeling/taste to it.

So I applied it once more and started working the product on my lips.
It first felt it little too harsh, maybe I used too much strength, but slowly it felt much better. After exfoliating, I was told that I could lick up the product, but being a little turn off by the thought that my dead skin are all being scrubbed off, I took a wet wipe to remove it.

I felt my lips after that, it feels smoother and softer. Because there was oil in the scrub, it helps with moisturizing my lips too, which can safe you a step on lip balm. But I still like to top it up with a lip balm to give it extra moisture, as this is the time the moisture will be absorb to it's fullest!(:

At the side/back of the packaging, there is this little description to tell you what to do with the product.

This is how the product looks like in the jar.

Just pick some out with your fingers and work it on your lips.

I blended the lip scrub on the back of my hands to show the chunky sugar from the scrub that does the exfoliating. And it stays well on my hands not because the sugar is melting and sticky. It is because of the jojoba oil that lets the sugar stay on the surface of my hands.

PS.I apply this scrub every night after which follow by lip balm before I go to bed.

Cons,

One downside I noticed about this scrub is, you have to store it in a ant free environment, since it made from sugar.

I didn't know initially and left it on the top of my cabinet, after a few days, ants started forming a trail and surrounded the product, some even went into it.

I remember closing the lip pretty tightly but the ants still manage to get into it. So I had to toss the whole bottle into the bin. The ants did a pretty bad 'damage' to it.

The next bottle I got, which is this, I store it in the cabinet where the ants cannot enter.
While I was shoot for this post, ant started accumulating too! I had to quickly snap snap and store it back into the cabinet.

PS. Because I leave on ground floor, we're more prone to see many insects running around the house. I thought it was common until a friend came over and told me otherwise.HEHHEH!

On the whole, I really like this product, because it keeps chapped lips at bay!~

It retails at Lush for SGD $18 and Lush is located at Wisma Atria # B1-13
Lush is having starting this online system where by you can purchase your stuff off their website and send it to you! HURRAY FOR LAZY PEOPLE LIKE ME!HEHHEH!

PS. I found another alternative to this lip scrub, would cost you much money and can scrub your lips too.

This is video by Michelle Phan I've chanced upon back in 2010, I've tried it after I've toss my first bottle away and it works well too!(:

But I was too lazy to make it again, So I went to purchased another bottle =X
HEHHEH!

Any lip scrub recommendation guys?

xx, meiyi
